So after the last banic on nyaa, I proceeded to archive nyaa. I have archived up to ID 750,000, while the site is currently at around 780,000.
Should I set it up a torrent to share it around first?
Nyaa archival efforts
No thanks.
Haha no.
For what purpose?
@JunkTop
@WebTool
I just find it odd that when nyaa is really down, only then will people start looking for alternatives or archives.
Of course, similarly, some others just don't use nyaa.
Dear diary, today OP is not a faggot.
Might as well. At least then people won't have a reason to bitch.
@JunkTop
Yep, another user taught me to get the magnets instead of the torrent file.
@Evilember
@JunkTop
Make a torrent which all the magnet links and name of torrent
I made a magnet for the archive file, but I might not be able to seed it actively at the moment. I have it in mega, just in case.

Guess sukebei will be next.
I commend you on your efforts. I think something like a magnet links archive like the others mentioned would be easier to spread. But nothing prevents you of going ahead and sharing it. It's a great help either way.
So the only tracker for nyaa torrents is well, nyaa?
I only use XDCC, but a health torrent scene is a good one.
@Nude_Bikergirl
I'm a little concerned about that as well. If the tracker falls, are the magnets affected?
what would be a good backup name?
wann.domain?
wanwan.domain?
Nyaa cartel jews went full retard anyway, so might as well create back-up tracker without cartel involvement.
@Burnblaze
That was around ID 450-500k. Have something a little more recent at 750k.
@WebTool
The magnets are affected the same way as with magnets as with .torrent files.
In either way you need a tracker.
@takes2long
I have archived up to ID 750,000
Sorry senpai, like I said, it was a complete archive, not selected ones.
Feel free to sift through and select the ones you deem worthy to archive.
Sukebei too?
@VisualMaster
Its a .7z file. 7zip or WinRAR should be able to unpack it.
Each 50k ID is inside a JSON file. It might get a little complex from here, but a simple "open with Notepad and search" might suffice for now.
@girlDog
Have not started, but I plan to.
@Evilember
You're doing gods work. I was in a downloading spree about half a year before the great purge on sad panda. I regret nothing.
You can add trackers later, though? At least transmission allows you to enter your own.

Anons, I am dissappoint.
@Supergrass
@Poker_Star
Sorry, I don't fully understand how trackers work either, but if two Anons use the same tracker other than nyaa, for a torrent, can it work?
please don't use magnets only
I'm still using uTorrent 1.6 because I don't like having my modern closed-source torrent client activity monitored
magnets are only good for the tracker, they're bad for whoever is actually trying to look for a torrent file
@viagrandad
This is ironically a good name for the site, because it'd help scare away retards and everyone else.
@kizzmybutt
Archiving torrents would be more difficult as compared to magnets, with one being the large number of files.
But listening to how magnets are rather tightly coupled with trackers, I think torrents would be more suitable as an archive.

Deluge is an open source alternative with none of that garbage
@takes2long
You want a torrent. Where do you get the peers? From a tracker.
Magnets dont help in this regard
@CouchChiller
Working under the assumption that we are able to make our own tracker, would it help if I archive torrent files as well?
@Carnalpleasure
Already exists, was posted a few weeks back. Search the archives for SQL.

The hell with those Daiz tricks?
don't use .zip. use something more obscure like nanozip, then all they see is gibberish.
qBittorrent is what you really want to be using. At least I've found it's the best alternative. Deluge fucking sucks.
Not really, other than the fact it constantly froze up and ran like shit on my toaster, and qBittorent gives me no problems at all. I'm not trying to engage in some technical debate, just offering my 2 cents based on personal experience.
I gave deluge a fair chance and ran it for a couple months but it had problem after problem. QBT has run perfectly from the moment I installed it with no hassles at all.
@askme
Fair enough, I wasn't looking to argue just interested in details.
Deluge hasn't given me any problems but I haven't updated it in at least a year, and as we all know updating software is bound to turn it into shit with few exceptions.
@askme

Sad but true user. The tech industry as a whole has a bad habit these days of "fixing" what is not broken. That and adding in a bunch of unneeded garbage to fuck everything up.
If we use a different public tracker, we would be able to find other peers through DHT and PeX, right?

@haveahappyday
In short, I want to know if the magnets would still work when nyaa tracker comes down? Or should I archive the torrent file as well?
I might as well get my shit right before moving on to sukebei.
I don't really know if my efforts were worth anything now.
@Gigastrength
Yeah, even if there's no actually alive trackers in magnet links, as long as seeders for those torrents enabled DHT, it will work. You need torrent files only so you could decide what you want to download beforehand.
@takes2long
I've found Transmission works best. If only they'd enable fucking sequential downloading, but they're hung up on some good neighbor shit about it hurting swarm health.
