Windows 10 only runs good once you turn off 50-75% of the "features" and built in spyware.
Even then you can't pirate games as effectively. A lot of the cracks just dont work with Windows 10.

I say this as someone who upgraded and looks at the "restore Windows 7" button every day. There are things I actually want to be free to do, Windows 10 retrains that on purpose.

You have to understand, Microsoft doesn't give a metric shit about the Xbone, or even Sony. What they're trying to do is increase Window's marketshare by any means possible. This has always been the case, its about increasing the ecosystem, not trying to help their customers. It's too late though, because of Windows Phone's failure, Android will take their throne once Google pulls its head out of its ass and makes a desktop focused update to Android and port it to x86.

Still, I'm happy that more people can play games I like, and if they have cross-compatibility multiplayer, then I'll be super fucking happy, because we get more people to play good games.

I don't expect another Xbox, however. The closest we'll get is some kind of Windows box, like an Android box, but for Microsoft.

People will still get consoles, because consoles tend to be way easier to deal with than PCs. Plus the market of people who want a dedicated gaming machine is still high, and PCs, while better for gaming, tends to only be better on the more high-end versions. It would make more sense to me to buy a good console or two and a Chromebook (or some other cheap, working internet browser) than a high-end PC.

yeah, Xbox is finished. Microsoft's profits have tanked since trying to enter the console wars and while caught up in marketing the Xbox, Apple stole a larger part of their PC market.

Microsoft will focus on what made them profitable in the first place, dominating personal computer sales/usage. I doubt you'll see another Xbox once this gen ends.

The xbone is just a weak pc with a drm closed environment os.

All they have to do is market compact prebuilt boxes with windows 10 on it running the exact same os as the pc with all the benefits of modding and bc and office and all that other shit. They can even mass produce them and tier them and casuals will assume they are consoles and buy them. Make them easily upgradable on the vidya card side as well.

Valve could never do this because

1. They don't have enough money to make their own machines with preset hardware and had to try to sell steamos to other manufacturers like alienware

2. Steamos is underdeveloped and can't run all windows games on it

Xbox one users get a free copy of the game for windows on stuff like quantam break. Why else would ms do this other than to try to get them to move to the window 10 machines. It'll prob still be called xbox something

If I had an Xb1, I'd be salty af though. pc Xbox games have paid MP structure, and on a good pc you'll get a a consistent 30fps, instead of a inconsistent framerate or reso downscale

Microsoft should have thought of Microsoft Exclusivity rather than Windows or XBOX exclusivity a long time ago.
Since the first Xbox in fact, a lot of the titles were ported to PC, they should have just released an XBL client for Windows so you can cross platform Halo.
XBOX is the cheap gaming PC that is guaranteed to run your games, but you can also play the same on PC, that way you keep people in the MS ecosystem and also turn a profit from XBL on Windows.

The only way this will happen is if Microsoft enables a way to lock Windows 10 to their store. They wouldn't produce a Windows 10 'console OS' for general purpose hardware without a clear way to make money from it and to prevent it from being subverted into a platform for Valve to profit off of.

it sucks for xbox live gold owners because they are still forced to pay for live, but as a pc + xbox owner having crossbuy and being able to have choice where i play a game is great.

i can do couch coop with friends over on the bone and lurch over my desk and play with K+M when i want to be competitive. its great.

i know there are some limitations like forced triple buffering and borderless window and no modding. but damn im just happy to get the games on pc anyway im not even mad. the only problem i ever had with GFWL was how slow the UI was, how shit the market was, and how bad the activation/install/update process was.

ive been playing gigantic and fable legends on win10 for a while, and they dont have any of the same problems i hated GFWL for so i have nothing to be a whiny bitch about.

This would actually make me buy an xbone. 2 copies of every game, cloud storage. I'd be able to play on the couch downstairs or on my pc upstairs. I read some rumors that they're adding the ability to stream non-xbone games from the PC to the xbone, steamlink style. If this is true I will be buying an xbone as soon as I find out.

Microsoft wants to make the PC for hardcore gaming and Xbone for simple and casual gaming, where you can simply hook the console to any TV and start playing. But fanboys won't like it one bit.

Xbone fanboys will simply end up moving to Sony, which is the pro-fanboy company that only produces fanboyism.

So is there a reliable way to disable all the tracking and spying features of windows 10? Last time I checked the blasted thing would install updates without notifying the user and those updates would turn all the spying on again.

A windows 10 "Steam machine" that comes with some of the benefits of the pc would work well if marketed like a console.

Too much is cloudy though MS isn't revealing everything. They could quite literally win easily if they make online free and push the windows 10 machine as upgradable and ensure their hardware runs the latest games well support dx12 to the fullest. Mentioning they support modding and extend bc of the pc would cinch it too.

But they always fuck it up somehow.
