It does have crafting, mining (for the crafting), different ship classes, trading and supposedly it has NPCs too. You have a mutitool which doubles as a gun and mining tool. The game kinda has mutiplayer, but it's so minor don't consider it (devs did say they would probably put out a more traditional mutiplayer component into the game later after the game was released).

Game's also not a building game, so don't be hoping for any bases

If you have good relationships with a faction they'll apparently allows you to call for npc-controlled ships.

No one can tell you what the multiplayer is like because you have to take the dev's words for it, so simply assume it doesn't exist until proven otherwise.

the problem is you come up with a story and a lore and then shit in the game happens that doesn't fit your narrative. Like, I wanted to play FTL like it was a Star Trek game. I named one character each run after an ST character. I'd try to do what a Star Fleet officer would do. But as you get up in difficulties there comes a point when you just have to say "do I need scrap?" rather than "do these aliens deserve a second chance at life?" And the illusion breaks, because my own headcanon doesn't fit very well with what the game mechanics turn out to be.
